More Fire(Wire) Power

Allegro FW400 PICe FireWire ports diagramDoes your computer have enough FireWire 400 (1394a) connections for your digital device collection? FireWire 400 is still the fastest interface found on many peripherals (so much faster than USB 2.0). From external hard drives, DV camcorders, external Blu-ray burners, and audio interfaces to digital cameras and scanners, thousands of devices can connect to computers via FireWire. If you've purchased a new computer recently, you may have noticed a complete lack of FireWire 400 ports. So, how will you connect your stuff? We have a simple solution to this dilemma—install Sonnet's Allegro™ FW400 PCIe to instantly add three FireWire 400 connections to your computer!

Allegro FW400 PCIe features full-bandwidth, powered FireWire 400 ports, and supports data transfer rates at up to 400 Mbits/s. This card can power bus-powered devices (such as small external drives and audio interfaces), so some devices can be plugged in and operate without an extra connection to a power supply. The Allegro FW400 PCIe installs easily into one of your computer’s PCI Express (PCIe) slots, features hot-pluggable and hot-swappable device connection capabilities with automatic device configuration, and supports all industry standard FireWire 400 peripherals.

From importing and editing video files to backing up your computer, Sonnet’s Allegro FW400 PCIe FireWire adapter card offers exceptional speed for digital-intensive work. Spend less time on slower USB 2.0 transfer speeds and more time on being productive. Expand your computer and your possibilities all at the same time!

Buzzillions Rating Mac Pro Fire[Wire] 400 Problem Solved
"
Connecting a Canon XHA-1 to a new Mac Pro, problems are solved by installing the Allegro FireWire 400 card. The cable 4 pin-to-800 port cable will not work with this camera and the new Mac Pro does not have 400 ports. After installing the 400 PCIe card, FCP uploads the video perfectly. A great card to make up for Apple's omission of the 400 ports. Easy to install, comes with easy instructions."
