PCIe SATA Host Adapters

PCIe (PCI Express) cards are for desktop computers with PCIe slots. Mac Pro and later Power Mac G5 computers, and some PCs have PCIe slots. PCIe cards can have multiple data lanes for more bandwidth to the host computer. For example, a four-lane card will be designated as PCIe x4.

Tempo SATA E4P
Professional, external 4-port SATA, x4 PCIe card. Each port supports port multiplier functionality at 3Gb/s to interface to multiple drives. Recommended for maximum performance for multiple enclosures.

Tempo SATA E2P
External, 2-port SATA, x1 PCIe card. Each port supports port multiplier functionality at 3Gb/s to interface to multiple drives. Not recommended for high-performance RAID configurations. Most cost-effective solution for modest SATA performance.

Tempo SATA 6Gb/s PCIe 2.0
External 2-port SATA, x1 PCIe 2.0 card. Each port supports 6Gb/s to interface to two drive enclosures. Recommended for maximum read performance with 6Gb/s SSD drives.

PCI/PCI-X SATA/ATA Host Adapter Cards

PCI/PCI-X cards are for desktop computers with PCI or PCI-X slots. PCI-X cards are the fastest versions (64-bit, 133 MHz) of PCI cards. PCI-X cards work in PCI slots and PCI cards will work in PCI-X slots. PCI-X cards achieve full performance in PCI-X slots. Some early Power Mac G5 and some PCs have PCI-X slots. Power Mac G4 and some early Power Mac G5 computers, and some PCs have PCI slots.

ExpressCards are for notebook computers. MacBook Pro and some PC notebooks have ExpressCard slots. ExpressCard/34 is a narrow version (34mm) of ExpressCard (54mm). ExpressCard/34 cards will fit in either ExpressCard/34 or ExpressCard slots.
