Performance and Expandability Sure to Leave You SATAsfied!

Do you need more speed? Sonnet's Tempo™-X eSATA 8 Serial ATA PCI-X® host controller card gives you performance to burn! Connect individual drives and you'll get great performance, but group up to eight Serial ATA hard drives in a RAID 0 (striped) set using Mac OS® X Disk Utility and you will expose the true prowess of this card—exceptional speed. Just how fast are we talking? More than enough to capture and process uncompressed 10-bit High Definition video!

Are your storage requirements bigger than your Mac® can handle? Tempo-X eSATA 8 can help you out of that jam—with eight external ports and a dedicated controller for each, add additional drives any time you like to maximize your storage capacity—using today's highest-capacity drives, you can connect an amazing 6TB (Terabytes) of storage! If you move your drives around, this card will help protect your data—it uses eSATA (external serial ATA) connectors that are designed specifically to support external storage solutions and offer superior durability and enhanced EMI (electromagnetic interference) protection. When your storage needs have outgrown standard solutions, get a Tempo-X eSATA 8—it'll give you room to grow and blazing performance for the most demanding applications.

Technical Notes:

(1) Western Digital manufactures Desktop edition (WD Caviar, Caviar SE, Caviar SE16, and Raptor X) hard drives and Enterprise (RAID) Edition (WD RE, RE2, and Raptor) hard drives. Each type of hard drive is designed to work specifically in either a desktop computer environment, or connected to a RAID controller (hardware or software-based). If you intend to configure Western Digital drives in a RAID set, Sonnet and WD recommend using only their Enterprise edition hard drives. For more information, see this Western Digital FAQ.

(2) SATA drive hot swapping is not supported in a desktop or server PC running Windows XP, Server 2003 or Vista. A SATA drive appears to the system as a not-removable hard drive and there is no mechanism in Windows to prepare the drive for removal.

(3) In Power Mac G5, installation is supported in slots 2 and 3.

(4) Parallel disk drives are supported when using Sonnet's Tempo Bridge or similar Serial ATA-to-Parallel ATA adapter.
