Crescendo/7200 Processor Upgrade Software

Description: This installer software is required with Crescendo/7200 processor upgrade cards. Version 1.1 expands compatibility to virtually all PCI cards and further increases memory compatibility. It also installs the proper software enablers and Metronome™ utility into your System Folder.

Supported System Software: System 7.5.3 - Mac OS 9.1

Note: This software is specifically for the Power Macintosh® 7200 and 8200 and is the only software required. For the most current information regarding the software, check the onscreen Read Me notes of the installer.

Crescendo/Encore Processor Upgrade Software

Description: This unified installer installs files necessary to support various Sonnet Crescendo and Encore processor upgrade cards. This software is not necessary for Encore/ZIF G3 nor Crescendo/7200 upgrades. Version 3.1 (along with the previous Version 3.0) adds support for Encore/MDX G4 Duet processor upgrades.

This installer also installs (or updates) the Startup Disk X control panel, and moves the original Startup Disk Control Panel to the Control Panels (Disabled) folder. This control panel enables universal switching between Mac OS 9.x and Mac OS X System Folders on systems where Mac OS X has already been installed.

Supported System Software: System 7.1.2 - Mac OS 9.1 (9.2.2 for Encore). Many systems upgraded with Sonnet Encore/ZIF or Crescendo/PCI processor upgrades support Mac OS X, although this software is not for OS X; systems upgraded with Crescendo/PCI also require third-party software to run OS X.

Note: If you have altered the extension name (ie: added spaces to the file name) of a previously installed version of Crescendo, Sonnet Processor Upgrade, or Encore, this installer will not automatically remove the previous version. You must manually remove it from your Extensions Folder.

Sonnet Firmware Updater installs the firmware patch necessary to support Encore/ZIF (700 MHz and faster) and various Encore/ST processor upgrade cards. Version 3.1 adds support for Power Macintosh G3 (Blue & White) and all Power Mac G4 computers.
