| My P2 card is unexpectedly unmounting from my Qio after I wake a MacPro or MacBook Pro from sleep. | Mar-24-10 |

| Sonnet measured read performance for three manufacturers' 600X (90MB/sec) CF cards in the Qio, connected to a MacBook Pro:
Lexar Professional 600X...86MB/sec
Transcend 600X...............71MB/sec
SanDisk Extreme Pro........61MB/sec |

| Is the Qio driver compatible with a 64-bit kernel boot of OS X 10.6 or 10.7? | Feb-28-12 |
| No, not at this time. 64-bit kernal boot is partially supported, with the following caveats 1) The Panasonic P2 driver is not 64-bit compatible, and 2) Sleep is not supported. |

| What kind of battery can I use with the Qio? | Apr-08-10 |
| A battery should be capable of providing 12Volts @ 3 Amps and have an XLR 4-pin power connector. Nominal power usage of Qio is 9W, and attached F2s are 8 Watts each. An example of a compatible battery is the Bescor MM7XLR-NC (BC-500 charger sold separately) that can provide 12Volts @ 7.2Amps and has a 50 Watt-hour capacity. This battery could power a Qio for 5.5 hours, or a Qio plus F2 for 3 hours. |

| I'm getting a Mac OS X kernel panic when I remove an SxS card from the Qio connected to a Mac Pro that also has a video capture card installed. | Jan-17-11 |
| If you have a Mac Pro model 1,1, put the video capture card (such as AJA Kona or Black Magic DeckLink card) in Mac Pro PCIe slot 3 and the Qio bus interface card in PCIe slot 2 to fix this issue. If you have a different model of MacPro, the problem occurs only in one of Qio's SxS slots, so use only the other SxS slot. Sonnet and Sony are working to address this issue. |

| I upgraded to 10.6.8 and my system no longer boots. | Sep-26-11 |
| If you have Qio 1.0.5 software installed and you upgrade to 10.6.8 you will no longer be able to boot. Sonnet strongly recommends that you install Qio 1.1 software before upgrading to 10.6.8 or 10.7. If you have installed 10.6.8 prior to installing Qio 1.0.6 or 1.1 software and are not able to boot, you can recover with the following steps:
1) Boot Mac OS X from an external drive or DVD.
2) In the Finder, remove the spaces from the name of your system disk that won't boot. For example, rename Macintosh HD to MacintoshHD. (If your system disk has another name use that name in place of MacintoshHD in the next two steps.)
2) Launch Terminal and type:
sudo rm -r /Volumes/MacintoshHD/System/Library/Extensions/STPCIFamily.kext
3) Type:
sudo cp -r "/Volumes/MacintoshHD/Library/Application Support/QIO/IOPCIFamily.kext" /Volumes/MacintoshHD/System/Library/Extensions (typed all on one line)
4) Type:
sudo touch /Volumes/MacintoshHD/System/Library/Extensions
5) Restart
6) Install Qio 1.1 or greater
7) Restart |

| Is Qio Compatible with 17" Thunderbolt MacBook Pro? | Dec-21-11 |
| Yes, but you must hot plug the Qio into the ExpressCard/34 slot of the 17" Thunderbolt MacBook Pro. The Qio will not be recognized in the 17" Thunderbolt MacBook Pro if you boot or restart with the Qio plugged into the ExpressCard/34 slot. See FAQ 632 for more infomation about compatibility connecting Qio via Thunderbolt. |

| Why is the Panasonic Mac OS X P2 driver not compatible with 64-bit mode, while the Sony SxS driver, CF driver and SATA drivers are compatible with 64-bit mode? | Feb-28-12 |
| The Sonnet QIO reader provides standard ExpressCard/34 slots and CardBus slots, which use standard Sony SxS drivers for the ExpressCard/34 slots, and standard Panasonic P2 drivers for the CardBus slots. Under Mac OS X, Sony supports 32-bit and 64-bit mode, and Panasonic supports only 32-bit mode. The Sonnet Qio family also supports Windows Vista and 7. Under Windows, both the Sony SxS driver and Panasonic P2 driver support 32- and 64-bit modes. (Also note that although the Qio P2 read speed is only 25MB/sec under Mac OS, it is 50MB/sec under Windows in the same Qio device.) Sonnet provides drivers for the Qio itself, the Qio's standard Compact Flash slots and the SATA ports, but the ExpressCard/34 and CardBus card drivers are provided by the proprietary card manufacturers\u8212 Sony and Panasonic, respectively.
Note that Panasonic has released a Mac OS X 64-bit driver for their proprietary PCD35 P2 reader, but not for their CardBus P2 driver, which would be needed to support 64-bit mode in the industry-standard CardBus slot of the Qio. |

| Is the Qio compatible with OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion)? | May-06-13 |
| Qio is compatible with OS X 10.8.0 through 10.8.3 when using Qio software v1.2.1 and later. There are specific steps you should take, depending on your setup:
New Qio User
If you are installing Qio software on a computer for the first time, you may do so with no issues on a computer already running 10.6.8-10.8.3.
Existing Qio User
If you intend to update your computer's OS from OS X 10.6 or 10.7 to 10.8.3, you MUST install Qio 1.2.1 or later software before upgrading the OS! If you have been using Qio with your computer running OS X 10.8.1 or earlier, and upgraded to 10.8.2 or later before upgrading the Qio software to v1.2 or later, your system may kernel panic, regardless of whether the Qio hardware is installed or connected.
If you already installed OS X 10.8.2 or later on a computer with which you've been using Qio, you may restore it to working order by following the directions here. Note that after you perform this procedure under , you must reinstall the latest Qio software under 10.8.2 or later.
Note
Regardless the Qio software version used, P2 media is not currently supported under any version of OS X 10.8. Mountain Lion does not support 32-bit drivers, and unfortunately, Panasonic's driver for P2 support is 32-bit. For a more detailed explanation about the P2 driver situation, please refer to this article .
