501 Are all C600X CF Cards more or less equal performance in a Qio? Mar-22-10
503 Can I power the Qio from a FireWire port on a MacBook Pro? Mar-23-10
This powering method is not officially supported because the Qio can require more power than one FireWire port's power specification. However, the single FireWire port on the unibody MacBook Pro seems to be capable of providing more power (up to 20W in our test) than its specification. In Sonnet tests under the following conditions:
1) If Qio is used with only memory cards (SxS's or SDHC, but not ExpressCard/34 controller cards; P2 cards but not CardBus controller cards; and/or CF Cards);
2) Qio has not more than one Fusion F2 powered from the Qio; and
3) MacBook Pro is unibody model;
then the Qio plus one Fusion F2 seems to be able to be bus powered from the unibody MacBook Pro FireWire port. You would need to use the FireWire power cable provided with the Fusion F2. Sonnet does not guarantee or support this configuration.

This does not seem to work in MacBook Pro models previous to the unibody.

509 Is the Qio driver compatible with a 64-bit kernel boot of OS X 10.6 or 10.7? Feb-28-12
No, not at this time. 64-bit kernal boot is partially supported, with the following caveats 1) The Panasonic P2 driver is not 64-bit compatible, and 2) Sleep is not supported.

632 Is Qio compatible with Echo ExpressCard/34 Thunderbolt Adapter? Dec-21-11
No, the software is not yet compatible. When Qio is compatible, it will require the Sonnet PCIe Bus Extender ExpressCard/34 Revision B (serial number beginning with B), which began shipping December 2011; or the Sonnet PCIe 2.0 Bus Extender ExpressCard/34 that ships with Qio E3.

633 Is Qio compatible with the Matrox T/ADP Thunderbolt Port Adapter? Feb-28-12
No, the Qio software is not yet compatible with a Thunderbolt connection. When Qio is compatible, it should work with the Matrox T/ADP Thunderbolt Port Adapter.

646 How can I read UDF Formatted SxS cards? Apr-20-12
648 Why is the Panasonic Mac OS X P2 driver not compatible with 64-bit mode, while the Sony SxS driver, CF driver and SATA drivers are compatible with 64-bit mode? Feb-28-12
The Sonnet QIO reader provides standard ExpressCard/34 slots and CardBus slots, which use standard Sony SxS drivers for the ExpressCard/34 slots, and standard Panasonic P2 drivers for the CardBus slots. Under Mac OS X, Sony supports 32-bit and 64-bit mode, and Panasonic supports only 32-bit mode. The Sonnet Qio family also supports Windows Vista and 7. Under Windows, both the Sony SxS driver and Panasonic P2 driver support 32- and 64-bit modes. (Also note that although the Qio P2 read speed is only 25MB/sec under Mac OS, it is 50MB/sec under Windows in the same Qio device.) Sonnet provides drivers for the Qio itself, the Qio's standard Compact Flash slots and the SATA ports, but the ExpressCard/34 and CardBus card drivers are provided by the proprietary card manufacturers\u8212 Sony and Panasonic, respectively.

Note that Panasonic has released a Mac OS X 64-bit driver for their proprietary PCD35 P2 reader, but not for their CardBus P2 driver, which would be needed to support 64-bit mode in the industry-standard CardBus slot of the Qio.

678 Is the Qio compatible with OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion)? May-06-13
Qio is compatible with OS X 10.8.0 through 10.8.3 when using Qio software v1.2.1 and later. There are specific steps you should take, depending on your setup:

New Qio User
If you are installing Qio software on a computer for the first time, you may do so with no issues on a computer already running 10.6.8-10.8.3.

Existing Qio User
If you intend to update your computer's OS from OS X 10.6 or 10.7 to 10.8.3, you MUST install Qio 1.2.1 or later software before upgrading the OS! If you have been using Qio with your computer running OS X 10.8.1 or earlier, and upgraded to 10.8.2 or later before upgrading the Qio software to v1.2 or later, your system may kernel panic, regardless of whether the Qio hardware is installed or connected.

If you already installed OS X 10.8.2 or later on a computer with which you've been using Qio, you may restore it to working order by following the directions here. Note that after you perform this procedure under , you must reinstall the latest Qio software under 10.8.2 or later.

Note
Regardless the Qio software version used, P2 media is not currently supported under any version of OS X 10.8. Mountain Lion does not support 32-bit drivers, and unfortunately, Panasonic's driver for P2 support is 32-bit. For a more detailed explanation about the P2 driver situation, please refer to this article .
