516 What kind of battery can I use with the Qio?Apr-08-10
A battery should be capable of providing 12Volts @ 3 Amps and have an XLR 4-pin power connector. Nominal power usage of Qio is 9W, and attached F2s are 8 Watts each. An example of a compatible battery is the Bescor MM7XLR-NC (BC-500 charger sold separately) that can provide 12Volts @ 7.2Amps and has a 50 Watt-hour capacity. This battery could power a Qio for 5.5 hours, or a Qio plus F2 for 3 hours.

527 Why does my Macintosh take so long to boot when the Qio is attached? Apr-27-11
528 Why can't a Mac Pro acknowledge the Qio if it is plugged in after the Mac is booted? Aug-31-10
Plugging in a Qio is like plugging in PCIe cards. In the Mac Pro's case, although media (DVDs, CF cards, SD cards, etc) can be plugged in, there was never an expectation by OS X that a PCIe card could be hot-plugged into a Mac Pro. As a result, OS X has no infrastructure for detecting and starting a driver loading process. The plug-in event is not noticed by the system.

OS X 10.5.8-10.8 required for Mac Pro and MacBook Pro (non-thunderbolt).
OS X 10.6.8-10.8 required for MacBook Pro (Thunderbolt).

581 Is Qio Compatible with 17" Thunderbolt MacBook Pro?Dec-21-11
Yes, but you must hot plug the Qio into the ExpressCard/34 slot of the 17" Thunderbolt MacBook Pro. The Qio will not be recognized in the 17" Thunderbolt MacBook Pro if you boot or restart with the Qio plugged into the ExpressCard/34 slot. See FAQ 632 for more infomation about compatibility connecting Qio via Thunderbolt.

678 Is the Qio compatible with OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion)?May-06-13
Qio is compatible with OS X 10.8.0 through 10.8.3 when using Qio software v1.2.1 and later. There are specific steps you should take, depending on your setup:

New Qio User
If you are installing Qio software on a computer for the first time, you may do so with no issues on a computer already running 10.6.8-10.8.3.

Existing Qio User
If you intend to update your computer's OS from OS X 10.6 or 10.7 to 10.8.3, you MUST install Qio 1.2.1 or later software before upgrading the OS! If you have been using Qio with your computer running OS X 10.8.1 or earlier, and upgraded to 10.8.2 or later before upgrading the Qio software to v1.2 or later, your system may kernel panic, regardless of whether the Qio hardware is installed or connected.

If you already installed OS X 10.8.2 or later on a computer with which you've been using Qio, you may restore it to working order by following the directions here. Note that after you perform this procedure under , you must reinstall the latest Qio software under 10.8.2 or later.

Note
Regardless the Qio software version used, P2 media is not currently supported under any version of OS X 10.8. Mountain Lion does not support 32-bit drivers, and unfortunately, Panasonic's driver for P2 support is 32-bit. For a more detailed explanation about the P2 driver situation, please refer to this article .
